VITON ETP (Extra Thermal Performance, also known as “Enhanced Temperature Performance” in some models) is a high-performance fluororubber, which is an improved version of tetrafluoroethylene propylene (TFE/P) or special copolymer fluororubber. It boasts a wider operating temperature range and superior chemical resistance compared to standard fluororubber (FKM).
VITON ETP exhibits exceptionally superior high-temperature resistance, with a continuous operating temperature range extending from -30℃ to +250℃, and a short-term peak tolerance of +275℃. Compared to traditional fluororubber, it exhibits reduced compression set at elevated temperatures and maintains sealing force for a longer duration.
This material boasts top-notch chemical resistance, exhibiting remarkable tolerance towards almost all industrial liquids and gases, including aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, strong acids, strong alkalis, fuel oil, lubricating oil, brake oil (such as DOT3/DOT4), engine oil, transmission fluid, and high-zinc engine oil containing amine additives. It is particularly suitable for applications where traditional fluororubber (FKM) is not resistant to amines, low molecular weight organic acids, and superheated steam environments.
VITON ETP exhibits excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and tear resistance. Its electrical insulation performance is average, inferior to silicone rubber, but it remains stable in high-temperature chemical environments. Furthermore, this material demonstrates outstanding water resistance, steam resistance, ozone resistance, and weatherability, and is almost insoluble in any known solvents.
VITON ETP seals, which are sealing rings (including O-rings, star-shaped rings, gaskets, etc.) made from VITON ETP fluororubber as the base material, hold an irreplaceable position in harsh working conditions due to their low deformation at extreme temperatures and wide chemical compatibility.
Petrochemical and Natural Gas Industry: In refineries, chemical plants, and natural gas extraction and transmission equipment, VITON ETP seals are utilized for sealing pumps, valves, pipeline flanges, and reactors. They are resistant to hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), carbon dioxide, methane, pentane, and various corrosive chemicals, significantly enhancing the safe operational duration of equipment under high temperature and high pressure conditions.
Automotive and High-Performance Vehicles: Given the high-temperature, oil, and fuel vapor environment within modern engine compartments, VITON ETP seals are employed in turbocharger oil circuits, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems, diesel injection systems, automatic transmission fluid (ATF) systems, and thermal management systems for new energy vehicles. Its ability to withstand oil containing amine additives is unmatched by ordinary FKM.
Aerospace and Military: In aircraft engine accessories, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, and landing gear buffer mechanisms, VITON ETP seals are capable of withstanding phosphate ester hydraulic oil (such as the Skydrol series), aviation kerosene (Jet-A/JP-8), and extreme temperature fluctuations, ensuring the sealing reliability of flight control systems and power systems.
Semiconductor and electronics manufacturing: In etching, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and plasma cleaning equipment used in semiconductor production, VITON ETP sealing rings can resist the erosion of plasma, fluoride gases (such as NF₃, SF₆), ozone, and high-temperature strongly corrosive chemicals, helping to maintain low contamination levels in cleanrooms.
Oil and Gas Extraction and Downhole Tools: In drilling equipment and downhole tools for oil wells (such as packers, safety valves, and sensor protection cylinders), VITON ETP seals are capable of enduring ultra-high temperatures (>200°C), ultra-high pressures, acidic oil and gas containing H₂S (compliant with NACE MR0175 standards), and high-salinity formation water for extended periods.
In addition, VITON ETP sealing rings are also widely used in fields requiring the highest level of chemical stability, such as chemical and pharmaceutical industries, hydrogen energy equipment, food processing (requiring food-grade formulations), and the nuclear industry (radiation-resistant modified varieties). In summary, VITON ETP fluororubber material and its sealing rings have become key materials for solving the most difficult sealing problems in modern industry (high temperature, strong corrosion, complex chemical media) due to their extreme temperature stability, extraordinary chemical compatibility, and low compression set.
