| Max pressure | 300 Bar |
| Temp range | -30°C~200°C |
| Max speed | 1m/sec |
The RS15-2 seal housing has one oil grooves, it is a high-performance, spring-energized rod sealing system engineered for demanding dynamic and static applications. It comprises a premium technopolymer jacket energized by a robust metallic spring, complemented by a specially integrated back-up ring positioned at the heel. Designed to fit standard O-ring grooves or specialized compact housings, the RS15 excels in providing low-friction operation, wide temperature resilience, and exceptional chemical inertness, making it a reliable solution where traditional elastomeric seals fail under extreme operational stress.
The jacket is typically machined from advanced fluoropolymers, primarily premium virgin or filled PTFE grades, ensuring a remarkably low coefficient of friction, high thermal stability, and universal chemical compatibility. To accommodate ultra-high-pressure conditions and prevent extrusion, the integrated back-up ring is crafted from high-modulus engineering plastics such as PEEK or specialized hard materials. The internal energizer utilizes high-strength corrosion-resistant metal alloys, such as Stainless Steel 301, Elgiloy, or Inconel, which maintain constant radial sealing forces without losing elasticity over prolonged operation or under thermal cycling.
The unique multi-component architecture of the RS15 yields significant functional benefits:
- Dual-Lip Optimization: The jacket features a precision-engineered dynamic lip optimized to reduce stick-slip and friction while maximizing fluid containment.
- Ultimate Extrusion Resistance: The rigid back-up ring sits directly beneath the seal heel, reinforcing the clearing zone and effectively neutralizing the risk of seal extrusion into the clearance gap at extreme pressures.
- Constant Sealing Force: The internal spring compensates for material cold-flow and wear, ensuring an optimal, localized contact pressure distribution throughout the seal’s service life.
- Bidirectional Stability: The balanced heel design secures the seal firmly within the groove, preventing axial twisting or shifting during high-frequency reciprocating strokes.
The RS15-2 seal is heavily utilized in high-integrity, severe-service environments across critical industries:
- Aerospace & Defense: Actuators, landing gear systems, and flight control components.
- Oil & Gas: Downhole tools, subsea valves, and high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) drilling equipment.
- Chemical Processing: Metering pumps, aggressive media valves, and fluid handling instrumentation.
- Semiconductor & Medical: Precision processing equipment demanding ultra-pure materials, zero chemical contamination, and high reliability.
