Product Overview

The P13 profile represents a high-performance, double-acting multi-piece composite compact piston seal specifically engineered for reciprocating movements in heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders. It features a multi-component architecture consisting of a primary dynamic sealing ring with multi-lip profiling, a sturdy underlying elastomeric energizer profile, and two L-shaped flanking guide/backup rings. This integrated assembly delivers highly efficient bidirectional sealing, exceptional stabilization, and reliable drift-free performance, effectively controlling fluid bypass across the piston head even under severe operational pressures.

Material Characteristics

The primary dynamic outer ring (shown in green) is fabricated from high-grade Polyurethane (PUR) or premium Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) compound, providing exceptionally low friction, minimal stick-slip behavior, and high abrasion resistance.

The base energizing block (shown in black) is made from a resilient Nitrile Rubber (NBR) elastomer, ensuring permanent pre-load force and elastic retention across a broad thermal range. The flanking L-shaped support elements (shown in brown) are molded from high-strength Polyoxymethylene (POM) or specialized nylon composites. This combination operates smoothly within a standard temperature spectrum of -30°C to +110°C and maintains full chemical compatibility with mineral-based hydraulic oils and water-based fire-resistant fluids.

Structural & Performance Advantages

The multi-lip geometry of the central sealing face maximizes contact pressure concentration to establish a highly reliable primary seal while retaining a microscopic fluid film to minimize operational wear. The secondary L-shaped guide rings serve a dual purpose: they act as highly effective anti-extrusion backups that eliminate radial gap-clearing failures under intense pressure spikes, and they provide structural guidance to prevent any axial tilting or rocking within the seal groove. This sturdy configuration allows the piston seal assembly to comfortably withstand extreme operational system pressures up to 40 MPa without experiencing deformation or degradation.

Application Scope

The P13 multi-piece compact seal is widely utilized as a standard bidirectional piston sealing solution for medium to heavy-duty hydraulic cylinders. It is frequently specified for construction machinery, industrial scrap metal balers, high-pressure injection molding equipment, and mobile crane hydraulic systems. Furthermore, its reliable position-holding capabilities and excellent extrusion resistance make it ideal for use in agricultural implements, mining roof supports, and demanding material handling platforms.
