Design O-Rings are a simple but very versatile seal. They are most commonly used for static applications, and for pressures over 1500 p.s.i are used with back up rings. O-Rings in NBR and FKM are suitable for use in mineral oil, water and air, FKM O-Rings are also suitable for use in most aggressive fluids and in temperatures of up to 200°C/390°F.
Primary static sealing: Most commonly used for static seals between end covers, flanges, connectors, valve blocks, cylinder glands, pistons and rods; the universal static seal in hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
High‑pressure static sealing (with back‑up rings): Used with back‑up rings above 1000psi (approx. 70bar), rated to over 1000bar for high‑pressure hydraulic valves, pumps, cylinders and accumulators.
Multi‑fluid compatible sealing: NBR for mineral oils, water, air; FKM for most aggressive fluids. Compatible with hydraulic oils, air, water, synthetic esters; not suitable for phosphate esters.
Wide‑temperature equipment: Standard temp -30°C to 100°C; FKM up to 200°C for normal/ high‑temp hydraulic, pneumatic, construction and engine‑related machinery.
Pneumatic system sealing: Recommended for static sealing with air/nitrogen, used in air compressors, pneumatic valves, cylinder end caps and air treatment components.
Standard groove general replacement: AS‑568A standard, metric/inch sizes, easy installation; cost‑effective general‑purpose seal for maintenance and volume assembly.
Auxiliary energizer & preload: Used as O‑ring energizer in composite seals (e.g., R16, 513, P54) to provide preload at low pressure and boost lip actuation at high pressure.
