The R22 profile represents a high-performance, single-acting composite rotary or piston seal energized by an integrated O-ring, specifically engineered for applications involving slow rotary, oscillating, or linear reciprocating motions under medium to heavy-duty conditions. It features an asymmetrical elastomeric or polymeric sealing jacket coupled with a resilient O-ring loader nested within its rear cavity. This combined configuration utilizes the system fluid pressure to optimize the sealing lip contact force against the mating surface, ensuring exceptional fluid containment across both low-pressure standbys and high-pressure operational cycles.
The main sealing ring body (shown in pink/magenta) is molded from specialized high-grade Fluororubber (FKM), Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR), or a premium Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite compound, delivering excellent thermal stability, low friction coefficients, and outstanding chemical resistance.
The internal energizer (shown in black) consists of a high-elasticity Nitrile Rubber (NBR) or Fluoroelastomer (FKM) O-ring designed to resist compression set and maintain a permanent elastic pre-load. This material layout allows the seal to function reliably within a broad temperature spectrum from -20°C to +200°C (depending on the base compound) and guarantees excellent compatibility with synthetic lubricants, mineral-based hydraulic oils, and aggressive chemical media.
The asymmetrical profile features an extended outer static lip and a precision-engineered dynamic lip that reduces friction while maintaining an optimal lubricating film to prevent dry running during operation. The embedded O-ring works as an active energizing element, compensating for hardware tolerances, radial runout, and operational material wear by providing a consistent, uniform contact pressure. Additionally, the cross-sectional geometry offers superior stability within the installation groove, preventing axial tilting or twisting, eliminating stick-slip behavior, and providing exceptional extrusion resistance under working pressures up to 30 MPa.
The R22 composite seal is widely implemented across rotational and reciprocating systems where conventional seals fail due to high temperatures or aggressive fluids. It is standardly equipped in rotary distributors, hydraulic pivots, swivel joints, and mechanical steering systems. Furthermore, its robust design and reliable zero-leakage performance make it highly suitable for industrial chemical pumps, valve stems, heavy-duty marine hydraulics, and specialized machinery actuators operating under arduous environmental conditions.
