RS03
| Max pressure | 400 Bar |
| Temp range | -35°C~200°C |
The RS03 profile represents a premium, heavy-duty bidirectional rotary seal assembly engineered specifically for high-pressure rotating joints, pivot mechanisms, and fluid-transfer swivels. The advanced multi-component configuration features a central, high-modulus elastomer sealing body flanked by twin rigid anti-extrusion guide rings. Designed with a dual-apex crowned sealing face and structural notches on its static baseline, the RS03 provides exceptional micro-sealing efficiency under zero-pressure conditions while remaining perfectly centered inside the housing gland during demanding bidirectional rotation or high-frequency angular oscillations.
The central elastomeric sealing body (shown in green) is molded from specialized, high-performance Nitrile Rubber (NBR), Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR), or premium Fluoroelastomer (FKM) compounds, depending on the thermal and chemical criteria of the operating application. This material exhibits an incredibly low compression set, high tear strength, and excellent long-term elasticity. The flanking backup/guide rings (shown in black) are precision-machined from high-modulus engineering polymers, such as glass-fiber reinforced Polyoxymethylene (POM) or bronze-filled Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). This material pairing delivers an operational temperature window of -35°C to +110°C (up to +200°C with fluoropolymer configurations) and complete chemical compatibility with mineral-based hydraulic oils, synthetic gear lubricants, grease, and water-glycol fluids.
The unique multi-piece geometric configuration of the RS03 provides major operational advantages over conventional single-piece rotary lip seals:
- Bidirectional Extrusion Protection: The twin rigid backup rings flank both sides of the elastomer seal, ensuring the soft sealing element is fully protected against gap extrusion and nibbling regardless of the system’s pressure direction or sudden pressure reversals up to 40 MPa.
- Stable Seating & Anti-Twist Geometry: The static base features a subtle inverted-V recess that allows the seal to settle firmly into the groove hardware, completely eliminating the risk of rolling, twisting, or spiraling during prolonged high-torque shaft rotation.
- Optimized Line Contact Pressure: The dual-sloped dynamic face concentrates initial installation pre-load forces to form a distinct line-contact fluid barrier, minimizing frictional drag, reducing stick-slip behavior, and controlling localized thermal buildup at the sealing interface.
The RS03 multi-piece rotary seal is standardly equipped throughout heavy industrial, mobile, and subsea fluid power sectors where high system pressures and slow-to-medium rotational velocities cause standard lip seals to fail. It is widely specified for heavy-duty hydraulic rotary distributors, high-pressure hose reels, hydraulic excavators, and construction crane swivel joints. Additionally, its robust pressure containment and low-wear tracking make it the preferred choice for chemical process agitators, top drives in oilfield drilling machinery, and large marine steering gear actuators.
