R25
| Temp range | -30°C~200°C |
The R25 profile represents a heavy-duty, multi-piece single-acting V-packing seal assembly (commonly known as a chevron stack), engineered explicitly for linear reciprocating rods and plungers in high-pressure hydraulic applications. The configuration features a modular stack consisting of a robust male header ring (thrust ring), multiple intermediate V-shaped sealing rings, and a supportive female base ring (backup ring). This multi-lip architectural design provides highly reliable leakage control and behaves dynamically under varying conditions, mechanically expanding its sealing contact area as operational system pressure rises.
The intermediate V-rings (shown in pink) are typically fabricated from premium Fluororubber (FKM), fabric-reinforced elastomer composites, or high-grade Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to offer excellent wear resistance, thermal endurance, and low running friction. The flanking male and female header rings (shown in brown) are molded from high-strength reinforced cotton fabric elastomers, Polyoxymethylene (POM), or specialized nylon composites to achieve superior rigidity and anti-extrusion capabilities. This material arrangement functions reliably across a wide temperature spectrum from -20°C to +200°C (depending on the base compound) and guarantees excellent compatibility with water-glycol mixtures, mineral-based hydraulic fluids, and aggressive synthetic oils.
The multi-ring chevron structure provides an exceptional built-in redundancy, distributing the fluid pressure progressively across each nested V-ring layer to optimize sealing efficiency under both low-pressure idle cycles and extreme pressure peaks. The wedge-like design reacts directly to axial force, forcing the flexible sealing lips radially outward against the rod and groove wall to automatically compensate for high mechanical tolerances or side-load vibrations. Furthermore, the solid trailing base ring serves as a high-strength anti-extrusion guard, allowing the entire packing stack to comfortably withstand harsh working environments with pressures up to 40 MPa without experiencing tearing or gap-extrusion damage.
The R25 chevron packing assembly is widely implemented as a primary rod or plunger sealing solution in severe, heavy-duty industrial and mobile hydraulic systems. It is standardly equipped in telescopic cylinders, heavy forging presses, scrap metal balers, high-tonnage mining roof jacks, and marine steering gear actuators. Additionally, due to its adjustable stacking configuration and high resistance to particulate contamination, it is highly favored for high-pressure water jetting pumps, mud pumps in oilfield equipment, and agricultural lifters operating under harsh environmental conditions.
